Dear Peggy, Brendan, Laura and Jenna, I wanted offer you my thoughts and prayers in this difficult time. I first met Dave in 1994 while working on the Crixivan project in Rahway NJ where I was on short term assignment. Dave was welcoming and friendly and while our interaction was brief it was memorable. I was fortunate to work directly with Dave when he came to West Point. He was meticulus in preparing for inspections to ensure that we were doing the right thing. I had good conversations with him about family and saw how much he loved all of you. With Sympathy, Steve Dziennik

Dear Hegarty Family, I am still in a state of shock at the loss of Dave as I am sure many still are. I worked for Dave in the Quality Operations Department at the Flint River site for a number of years. Dave was always kind and friendly, and someone to share a laugh with. Despite his friendly demeanor, he always held the line as a Quality Director to ensure the safety and quality of the products we manufactured. When he had to be tough, he did so in a calm and reassuring way. After the Flint River site closed we both found our way to the West Point site. Although we worked in different areas of the plant site, he was someone I ran into on a frequent basis. We’d typically share stories of what we were working on. He would ask about my family and I would ask about you. He would explain the logistics of him working at West Point while the family was down in Georgia. I last saw Dave about a month ago. One of the last things he said to me was that he, Felipe and I should all go out for a beer sometime. I hope God has Guinness on tap. Forty-nine is too soon to be taken away. Too many memories not yet created. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

Mrs. Hegarty, Dave and I worked together for 5 years down at the FR site in GA. Dave was very welcoming to me when I moved down to (what I considered at the time) a very strange place indeed. He advised me that if a Irishman could get used to the place anyone could. We loved our time there and I always found the working relationship I had with Dave to be friendly. He was a heck of nice guy. I am very sorry for your loss.

Please accept my sincerest sympathies on your loss. Dave and I worked together during teh CRIXIVAN days. He was a great analyst and a warm human being. He always ready with a hardy hello, a "short" conversation and a twinkle in his eyes. I had great respect for his work and enjoyed our friendship. Again, my sincerest sympathies. Mike
