Obituary of David Hegarty

David Francis Hegarty, 49, of Upper Gwynedd, PA, died suddenly on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012. Son of the late Thomas and Mary Hegarty, he is survived by his wife, Peggy Schnugg Hegarty; his children, Brendan, Laura and Jennifer; four brothers, Denis Hegarty of Glin, Co. Limerick, Ireland and his wife Margaret; Thomas Hegarty of Hollywood, Fla. and his wife Jennie; Jay Hegarty of Tullamore, Co. Kerry, Ireland; and John Hegarty of Chester, NY and his wife Leslie; his sister, Josephine Hegarty Farley of Staten Island and her husband John; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Born and raised in Tullamore, Listowel, Co. Kerry, Ireland, David had also resided in Dunellen, N.J. and Lee County, GA before moving to Upper Gwynedd. He was a graduate of St. Michael's College in Listowel, The Institute of Technology Tralee, University College Cork, and received a B.S. in Chemistry from Seton Hall University in N.J. He was employed by Exxon and Amoco in N.J. and then worked for Merck for 22 years in Rahway, N.J., Albany, GA, and West Point, PA; most recently as an Associate Director and Director.
Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street, Upper Montclair, NJ. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Cassian's Church, 187 Bellevue Ave, Upper Montclair, N.J. Interment will be at the Lislaughlin Abbey Cemetery, Ballylongford, Co. Kerry, Ireland.
