I'm sorry that I cannot be with you at her service, but will think of you often.
Helen tells me that there is a new baby on the way, which certainly is cause for joy. The ways of life are sometimes difficult to understand or accept, but a new life is a blessing for all of you.
Stay strong. I'm sure that's what Kathryn would want.

We are so sorry to hear the unimaginable and so sorry we were away during the wake and funeral. The pictures of Kathryn remind me of how beautiful she was. I am so sorry to hear about Kathryn's passing and wanted to send my condolences to you and to all who knew and loved her. I have been reflecting on our friendship and the times we shared together over the years. There were too many to list here, but to name a few:
I will never forget building forts with cushions at your house while trying not to knock over Patrick's extravagant Star Wars puzzles.
Sneaking into your basement and eating Spearmint flavored Lifesavers in the dark watching green sparks fly out of our mouths.
Performing at Essex Youth Theater
Prancing around the soccer field in our bright pink town league jerseys.
Spending countless lunches together at Rand, Glenfield, MHS and having Sunday brunches together at Rutgers where I could escape from the theatre crowd and become a grounded person again.
I will also remember the time we shared in Montclair in our early 20's feeling a bit lost and eager to start our new adult lives in NYC.
I will always cherish and carry these memories of Kathryn in my heart. She was as amazing person and friend and was always voted in my household as the "number 1 most easiest play date" that was welcome anytime. Thank you for bringing her into the world and nurturing her caring spirit. I will forever miss her.

We were so moved and touched to learn the news from Beth of Kathryn's death. Yes, we knew she had cancer but just had such hope that with treatment she would "beat" it. We are so thankful, then, that during this difficult journey you had one another with whom to share the ups and downs - especially since she was able to be at home with you. Continuing the journey without her physical presence will not be easy. She was such a special person which both adds to the emptiness she leaves behind but also fills that emptiness with such loving, caring and inspiring memories that live on and give you the strength you need - along with the love and caring of your family.
As you know both Kathryn and Patrick - along with the two of you- have a special place in our memories from our very first day when they came over to see us and greet us as we became your new neighbors.
Although we cannot be with you just now - we love and support you and cherish your friendship over all these years. With much love, Bob and Sheila

Kathryn,
I can’t quite pinpoint the exact moment when you went from, “friend of my friend,” to “my dear friend.” Surely, it must have been one of the many celebrations or Saturday night hangouts? (Maybe we can rule out that night we all got together and played Avalon – we got super competitive about it!) Whenever it was, I am eternally grateful for that moment I can’t quite pinpoint. I love you dearly.
I’ll always remember your presence; the presence that made me, and anyone around, so naturally gravitate toward you. In a group of friends with unreasonably loud voices – you know which ones – you never had to try to be heard, and you were always seen. “Where’s Kathryn?” was the first question asked any time you were off on your own adventures. Wherever the wind took you, I was always eager to hear all about it the next time we’d catch up.
It’s been a blessing to have witnessed you, and your compassion, and your strength. Thank you for your friendship. I miss you very much, Kathryn, but I know one day we’ll get to catch each other up again.
Love,
Jun

Kathryn was - IS - the best. I met her at Food Network magazine. She was an intern and I was a sales assistant. It wasn’t until she became full time where her and I got close. Believe it or not, I didn’t really like her at first. (I was crazy I know) and it wasn’t until she was talking about her soon-to-be-ex that I realized how cool this girl is. She knew exactly what she wanted and knew what she deserved. From then on, we worked side by side - like literally her desk was next to mine. And we became quick friends.
Looking back on all of my memories with Kathryn I realized she was there for all of my big moments and all of the little moments as well. We’d go on walks in Hoboken, get coffee (Dunkin of course), play tennis (she tried teaching me), go out to watch football or grab a beer. I even helped her with putting her rug down in her apartment. We would have convos about all of the important things in life: work, love, life, and her nude lipstick collection. (She was on the hunt for the perfect shade… or maybe she just loved nude lipstick.) And the big moments too. We would always celebrate our birthdays together (Aquarius babies). She was there for my bach… my wedding dress fitting.. my wedding day. She was the second person - other than my mom - to see me in my wedding dress. And she SAVED my wedding because she was the only one who knew how to pin up the train of my dress. (“Chris.. get Kathryn now!”) She came to see my new house… she came to meet my son. Oh she even told me where to go for my first date with my now husband. Like I said she IS the best.
I always knew she’d be my forever friend because of how close we were (and also because I would never let her go.) Even though this wasn’t in anyone’s plans.. I still know Kathryn is with me. With all of us. She will always be my forever friend. And I know she’ll be with me every single day for the rest of my life. I love her so much. Xoxo forever, “Manzi.”
P.s. she is still the only person I know who has gone to Arby’s… And also the only person I know who loves Arby’s!??

Kathryn, the OG girlie enchanted by the simple joys of life like the Olive Garden, has left an indelible mark on my heart. Her infectious compassion, love, and humor impacted me in small and profound ways, often simultaneously.
2020 was a weird and hard year for most, but it was one of my favorites. Just about every weekend, I would venture up to Hoboken to spend time with Aidan, Monique, Gavin, and Kathryn. Every time we’d discuss what to order in for dinner, Kathryn emphatically advocated for Olive Garden. At first, we’d quickly dismiss the suggestion especially given all the other options available. However, Kathryn remained persistent, noting it’s affordability, portions, and the ‘quality’ reheat.
In fact, her most compelling and compassionate argument came after I accused her of owning stock or receiving a commission. She quickly retorted, ‘No Wesley, when you’re here your family.’ In that moment, I realized this was never about food, but community and family. She wanted to share something she cared about with those she cared about. Like the Olive Garden, none of us are perfect, but Kathryn’s love and affection made us feel as such.
New Year’s Eve 2020, we got all her favorites and enough food for a family of 8 with only half that number in attendance (this was a common occurrence when dinning with Kathryn). It was one of the more joyous NYE’s even without all the grandeur and glam typically associated with the holiday (photo evidence included where Kathryn’s wearing the white sweater dress). Kathryn regularly turned ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.
She’s unabashed in her opinion and vigorously devoted to her career, Notre Dame football, family and friends. While I’ll never get over that she’s no longer with us, it’s undeniable the impressions she’s left on us all. Despite starting as tangential friends, she quickly became one of my closest: sharing experiences and fears that I’ve only shared with a handful of others.
Kathryn, I promise our godson, Landon, will know all about the love, compassion, and humor you brought to every moment and every person you encountered. I hope to playfully and passionately carryforward your conviction and approach everyone with a similar zest, affection, and humor.
Thank you for all the moments we shared, the lessons learned (silly and serious), and the anticipation of seeing that radiant smile and hearing your boisterous laugh again.
Sine Cera,
Wesley
