Obituary of Anastasia Schwarz
ANASTASIA MALAMAS SCHWARZ
Anna was born July 5, 1931 to Michael and Theodora (Papaharissis) Malamas, the second of four children. She grew up in Buffalo, NY, where the family moved when she was very young.
After graduating from Bennett High School, she attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, studying advertising and graduated in 1953. She met her future husband, Donald Schwarz while at Pratt. They were married in 1954, in Buffalo and lived in De troit, Michigan where she worked in advertising until she found her true calling as the mother of three daughters.
She excelled in many areas, enjoyed the fiber arts, for many years sewing her children's and her own clothes along with knit ting, and crewel work; an excellent taste in the arts and was a wonderful cook, preparing Greek recipes. She had a warm and ingratiating personality, friend to everyone. A quick wit and a wicked, dry, sense of humor. One evening, while she was still eating, the rest of the family finished and left the dinner table, she gathered four stuffed animals placing them in the chairs around the table so she would have someone to talk to and not having to finish the meal alone. She loved and cared for her family above all else.
She is survived by her husband, daughters Lisa (Hal) DuBois, Thea (Nigel) Anderson and Ella (Dan) Schwarz-Pa risi, five grand daughters and one great grand son, her brother, sister, a nephew and niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and her elder sister.
They lived in the Detroit area for 45 years before moving to Hilton Head, South Carolina where they lived for 18 years. The past few years she and her husband lived with a daughter in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.
Per the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
