It always cheered me to run into Joanne at Nauna's Bella Casa when she was taking a break from "Putting the Montclair Times to bed" on publication night. I first met Joanne when I was in high school, going steady with her brother, Peter, about a million lifetimes ago. We reconnected briefly when I moved back to Montclair in 1997. My husband and I were actually talking about Joanne earlier this week, and wondering where she was. The Montclair Times and Nauna's are both long gone from Montclair. The world will be a sadder place for her loss. Luis and I send our deepest sympathies to all the Cardinell/Karcher/Futrell family. I am happy to hear it was a peaceful passing surrounded by family.
