It was a pleasure to play in the band for the Bacot/Shamel New Years Eve party for 34 years. Shirley shopped in my wife's toy store on Church St. in Montclair for Christmas gifts.
It was a pleasure to know Shirley. She was a wonderful lady and a role model for women of today. My sincerest condolences on her passing.

Dear Susan and George-
I am so very sorry to hear of Shirley's passing.
I always admired her for her welcoming approach to everyone, her beauty, her bright smile, and her intellect. She brought wisdom with understanding and resolve to our Depot Theatre Board meetings, and greatly contributed to the theatre's years of success. Her happy spirit was infectious!!! I will miss her.
Warmest condolences and hugs to you both,
Kate Danzeisen

Dear Bacot - Schamel family, I was deeply saddened to hear of Shirley's passing. I was privileged to sing with her for over 10 years as a Humdinger. Shirley generously not only lent her talent to the group, but for many years chaired the Humdingers. Shirley graciously welcomed us into her home every Wednesday a few months a year. She always greeted us with a smile, gentle embrace, warm coffee and delicious treats. On a personal note, Shirley was a perfect example of what it was to be a lady and a true friend. When I joined the group in 2000 she was always the first to say hello and check in with me. More than once she was a trustworthy ear in times of trouble. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel and I am sure the soprano section of the choir is already benefiting from her talent. Shirley was many things, generous, a leader in the community, a champion for our elderly, valued board member, a talented singer, but I am sure she will mostly be remembered for her kindness. Dear Bacot girls, remember she will always live on in you and your children. Love, Claudia Placentra Humdinger from 2000 - 2015
