I had the pleasure of playing Lacrosse for Coach Sully at MSU during the 80s. Coach took over the program when I was a rising Senior. It was a tough job, he inherited a bunch of strong minded Kids who had played for another coach and became set in their ways at the tender ages of 18-22, very funny. I learned to respect Coach for all the reasons we know and love about him. I wish I had more time with Tim, he taught me a lot in a short time and I benefit from those lessons today. Rest in peace Friend, you touched the lives of many people in a very positive way.

To the Sullivan Family,
So sorry to hear about your loss. I knew Tim when I was an Adjunct Professor at MSU in the Recreation and Leisure Department from 1995 - 2004. Tim was helpful, kind and just a really nice person. As the TR department downsized, he always found courses for me to teach. He also was instrumental in moving me forward to Adjunct at Kean University once the TR program closed. Again, sorry for your loss.

To the Family of Timothy Francis Patrick Sullivan:
My name is Larry Kalb, M.A. 1984, Montclair State College and I served as Montclair State's First Graduate Assistant in Sports Information, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, from Sept. 1981-June 1982; Sept. 1982-June 1983. Although I did not work with Tim Sullivan (He wasn't a Coach during my tenure) I had many opportunities to meet and talk with him. HE WAS A FIRST CLASS PERSON ALL THE WAY; HE ALWAYS SMILED AND WAS FRIENDLY. YOU CAN TELL HE DEMONSTRATED MONTCLAIR STATE SPIRIT IN HIS NUMEROUS AND WORTHWHILE ENDEAVORS.
I am SADDENED TO LEARN OF HIS PASSING BUT KNOW HE WILL BE IN G-D'S CARE ABOVE US, BUT ALWAYS WATCHING US TO SEE THAT WE COMPLETE OUR MISSIONS WITH INTENSITY AND VIGOR JUST AS HE LIVED HIS LIFE.
MAY TIMOTHY FRANCIS PATRICK SULLIVAN'S MEMORY BE FOR A BLESSING.
R.I.P. MY SPORTS FRIEND

Dear Kelly, Jim and Family,
Please accept my most sincere condolences on the passing of your Dad. As I read his obituary it was clear that he was an outstanding Dad, educator and human being. Caring for his family was his joy and passion and he was wise enough not to squander those magic moments. I am thinking of the Grady family and sharing in your sorrow but knowing you will find comfort in your memories. A special note of regard is sent to you Tyler as I remember you fondly as a small boy in kindergarten.
Sincerely,
Joseph N. Maccia

Tim was blessed and shared his gifts with all.
What astronauts did in space Tim, in a special way, did here, as he coached special students to reach their goal.
Tim was a founder of the MSU Emeriti Association and an indispensable colleague and friend.
He has a special place in our hearts.
We send our prayerful sympathy to Tim's Family and Friends.

I was honored to have Coach Sullivan recommend me for a scholarship award at a MSC Convocation many years ago. Under his tutelage I became involved in adapted physical education as a student, teacher, coach and school administrator. An outstanding teacher and mentor. May his legacy live on. MSC ‘74

On Saturday, Montclair State University lost a 'Founding Father,' in terms of both the growth & development of not only the Physical Education Program, but the University itself. Tim Sullivan was a 'True Montclair Man,' & that niche, he shares with so very few. As I stood in the Panzer Gymnasium lobby on oh so many occasions, waiting for a recruit, Tim would invariably walk bye, while indicating that the 'Pond needed to be stocked;' well today Tim, God stocked the 'Heavenly Pond,' with your wonderful, & contagious earthly presence. May God keep you always by His Side, & continue to Bless your loving Family.
