Vincent’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

To the family of Vincent LaSelva
Please accept my sincere condolences. I have taken comfort knowing that God . . . will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain.”—Revelation 21:3, 4
The Bible, however, holds out a much different hope. As we have previously noted, the Scriptures indicate that it is possible to be reunited with your dead loved one in the near future, not in an unknown heaven but right here on earth under peaceful, righteous conditions. And at that time humans will have the prospect of enjoying perfect health, and they will never have to die again. ‘But surely that is wishful thinking!’ for some may say. For words of encouragement please go to JW.org
Sincerely,
Roberta

It is with the deepest sorrow that I read of the passing of an old dear friend, Maestro Vincent LaSelva.
Vince and I served together in the U.S.Army band at Fort Jay, N.Y. in the 50's. He was a remarkable conductor, a fine human being and a brilliant musician who posessed a cosmic view of the music world. I spent many hours talking with Vince about our profession and life in general.
Few people know that Vince was a fabulous trumpet player who simply chose another route to take. I can honestly say that Vince made a profound impression upon my musical outlook during my formative years, something that I will forever be grateful.
My sincerest condolances to his family and to those who knew him on many levels. His loss will be felt by many and especialy the opera world where he made so many contributions.
Rest in peace Vince.

My deepest condolences to Maestro La Selva's family. He was my teacher and mentor at the Juilliard school, His wonderful personality, musicianship and encouragement helped me to become a musician, conductor and teacher in USA after I arrived from Republic of Georgia and had to start all over my education and conducting carrier in this country. Maestro La Selva was a person who guided me through this very difficult process and encouraged me to keep pursuing Conducting. Thank you Maestro and may you rest in peace.

Vincent LaSelva was a mentor to me, the source of all my knowledge of the great operas, and my inspiration as a conductor. My wife Gail Wofford and I worked tirelessly on stage tech from the early 1970’s for Vince’s New York School of the Opera, the Opera Company of Nassau, and then extensively for New York Grand Opera in Central Park and elsewhere. In the mid 70’s Vince was instrumental in supporting our founding and development of New York Gilbert & Sullivan players by providing our first home base at The B’nai Jeshurun Community Center on West 89th Street. Vince always said that he loved G&S, but he left that genre to me while we worked together on mounting and performing his beloved opera repertory. Vince also introduced us to the Stivanello family, another instrumental source of support for both New York Grand Opera and our G&S company. The value of our long association with Maestro LaSelva cannot be overestimated. Alberet Bergeret

My sincere condolences on the passing of Maestro La Selva. I will be forever grateful to him as my teacher and as someone who believed in me as a student. This giant of a man once took me by the arm, in class, and conducted ‘through me’, and in an instant I realized what great conducting was all about, power, emotion, clarity and authority. There will never be another one like him. God bless you Maestro and thanks for the beautiful music you shared with all of us. Your Student Always, Edmund Choi

It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Maestro La Selva. My condolences to the family.
It should be noted that Vincent gave chances to perform to many young singers, providing musical and stage movement training to relatively inexperienced singers such as myself. I had the opportunity to perform, first, in workshop performances, then in Central Park, and in many concert venues throughout the New York Metropolitan area. This experience helped me to develop a late stage career, appearing at the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, and numerous others.
I shall always be in gratitude for the chances/experience afforded to me by Vincent La Selva.

Maestro LaSelva was instrumental in my education and the start of my career. I remember with great fondness his intelligence and his attention to so many details all at once. He was always thinking and conveying his musical genius to musicians and audiences alike. My heartfelt condolences to his family and his musical family. The light that shines on classical music in general and opera specifically, has dimmed considerably with his passing. Bravo Maestro.

To the La Selva family- prayers and condolences on the passing of Vincent. I had the privilege of studying with him for 25 years and singing in many Carnegie Hall and Central Park performances. Your dad was both a great teacher and a trusted friend. When ever I wanted I straight opinion on music matters or life in general, I knew I could ask Vincent and get a well considered response. I will treasure the memories of working with him.
