Mary Faith Daly was born in Montclair and this was always her home. She took great pride in the town. As a child she attended Lacordaire and Immaculate Conception schools. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College in Washington, DC. Mary Faith taught the second grade here at Immaculate. Even in the past months, it wasn’t unusual for a man or woman to come up to her in a restaurant and say “I remember you. You were my teacher.” That red hair never lost its color, she was easy to recognize. As a young woman, high school religion classes. After teaching at Immaculate, Mary Faith became an Administrative Assistant in the Education Department at Montclair State. Mary Faith enjoyed sports… especially tennis. Until just a few years ago you would see her riding her bike on Prospect Avenue. She was an active member of the YMCA. Mary Faith could regale you with stories of Montclair in the 1930s and 40s. She had wonderful tales of summers at Spring Lake when she was a child. In recent years found new delights at the shore in recent years as she joined the annual gathering of all her nieces and nephews at a shore house in July. One of six children, Mary Faith loved and was greatly loved by the sons and daughters of her brothers and sisters. She was a strong, independent woman who cherished family, loved her community, had a sense of humor and a very big heart.

So sorry to hear of your loss. You'll hear this often in the coming weeks but it bears repeating-she was a tremendous influence on me and many others growing up.

Miss Daly was my second grade teacher at Immaculate Conception Grammar School '67-'68 I have many fond memories of her class. We ran into each other over the years, as recently as last winter in the barber shop. My condolences go out to Miss Daly's family. She will be missed.

My sympathy to the family of Mary Faith and especially my friend Mary Ellen who was her neice. I felt as though I knew Mary Faith by hearing the stories about her and what a wonderful human being she was. The Mager family was blessed to have her in their lives. She sounded like an angel.
