Although I didn't get to know David as long as I wish, he forever left an unremovable mark on my heart. Our time together was short, but so very memorable.
David was compassionate, caring and open. I will cherish the great times we shared. We all have our struggles. I am so very sorry yours made life harder to embrace and enjoy. I pray for peace for you eternally and your wonderful family.
You were so very loved.

I just received my Bulletin from Berkshire. No words seem adequate. I've spent the last few days living in the mid-1980s. I lapse between trying to remember the good times -- there are so many -- and tears. Some of the memories are so vivid I can walk into the moment and remember every detail. But many are in bits and pieces now. I want to ask someone about those lost details-- why were we here? what happened then? -- but you're the only one who knows the answers. I so deeply wish you could answer them for me.
My thoughts, prayers and sympathies are with you, Mr. & Mrs. Jones, Jen & Steve. May the love and strength of your family support and comfort you.

We remember lovingly the time David spent with us and our children in Oconomowoc, WI. It was in summer and Dave had business in Madison and we were privileged to host David in our home. Our children loved that time, as did we. We have experienced the pain you are in. God bless you and keep your family close and well. Much love, Jim and Esther Tavares

David, Becky and Family, I was greatly saddened to learn of David's Passing. I helped him on some legal and other matters over the years in Colordao.I remember how proud he was to help build your dream home there. He worked tirelessly on that. i also remember how he not only provided refuge but plenty of hot meals for the hotshot firefighters during some of our fires, but he also was instrumental in organizing the Thank You parade for the firefighters and stood shoulder to shoulder with them in the Resort truck, beaming with thanks for them. Finally, i recall a time he allowed my son's entire scout troop to use the resort and regaled them with wonderful tales of Native American Lore. Over a decade later, my son still describes the night as unforgettable and remembers it -- and David - Fondly. My deepest sympathies. i wish you peace and understanding, and know this -- he will be missed...Best Regards, Jim Gillies

Dear David and Family, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your son. It is difficult to lose anyone close, but it is deeply painful to lose a child, even it that child is an adult. The Crystal Lake Resort appears to be very pretty and would be a great place to visit. Again, I am very sorry for your loss. Gene Stubbs

Mr. & Mrs. Jones, Steve & Jen, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Dave, what can I begin to say you were my Big Brother at Hamilton, and I looked up to you more than you will ever know. I felt so honored to be your friend and excited to be around you. You taught me so much and we shared many special times together and I will never forget the time we shared when you visited me in Australia. You were always there for me when I needed you the most. It was just a few short months ago when we spoke and you lifted my spirits up, and got me focused and what is truly important in my life. I will pray for you every waking day and ask for your continued guidance. I love you Dave and may you rest in peace!

You were my first love.
How can you be gone from the world? We shared so much at a time when everything meant so much. You taught me how to drive, and a thousand other things. I still smile thinking of the way your nose crinkled when you laughed. And when I see or hear something that I know you would find funny or touching, I think of you.
I hope the people who loved you best will somehow find peace. I will always love you. Mara

Mr. and Mrs. Jones, Steve, and Jen - my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Jonesy,
I just found out about your passing today and just yesterday I played golf with an old hockey buddy, roommate of yours from Berkshire, Jeff Jacobs. We told about 50 stories of the fun we each had with you and I was trying to find your resort website to forward him your contact info when I saw the news.
Thanks for the kindness, friendship, and adventures over the years, from Pledging the house, to rooming together, to Cave Raves, trips to Bucknell and Montclair, getting stuck in the sand on beaches on the Vineyard, lifting weights in Bundy (you are the man), from J term in London,to post college NYC visits, and early visits to Denver after graduation.
I'm sorry I didn't keep in better touch, get a chance to see you more post college or to say goodbye. Peace, YITB, Presch

Thank you for all of the emails, calls, visits to our house, flowers and food - we are grateful for your support. And thank you for gathering with us today in memory of David.
David Michael Jones - Dave and Becky's son, Jen and Steve's brother, Caitlin Dylan and Josh's uncle, my brother in law and your friend. May David rest in peace.
I knew David for 32 years - I first met him in 1982 when I started dating Jen - I came to learn that shortly before I met her she had broken up with her boyfriend - apparently this boyfriend did not treat her in a manner that satisfied David so he took it upon himself to send a very physical message to the young man - a message that no one treated his sister with disrespect - very early I knew that David was a fiercely loyal brother.
Through my years with David he introduced me to the beauty of Colorado, the tranquility of fly fishing, the peaceful nature of long hikes in the Colorado wilderness and the long rich tradition of Native American culture and philosophy - whenever we were in Colorado he would sit on the bed with Dylan Caitlin and Josh and read them his many Indian tales.
David loved family and being together. I remember one very special Christmas we spent together as a family in Colorado - he organized a ski trip to Breckenridge and a sleigh ride on a snowy December night while all of us wore the authentic cowboy hats that he had bought each of us that holiday. We had a festive dinner at The Fort, one of David's favorite traditional Colorado restaurants. We cleared snow off of the frozen lake at the Jones's ranch property and played hours of hockey. We sat by the crackling fire and watched movies together.
David was a true outdoors man, a real estate entrepreneur, a triathlete, a hockey player, a hiker and a biker, a skier, an avid reader - he had a keen interest in politics - as a matter of fact, if you needed to find him on a Sunday morning it was highly likely that he was planted in front of the TV watching the Sunday morning shows. He was the true MacGyver, able to fix anything and I mean literally anything.
David will be missed dearly by family and friends alike but I am convinced that he is in a good place now and that he would want all of us to embrace our life, hoid on to what is dear to us, live life to the fullest and never ever feel sorry for him. He accomplished a lot in his life and it was his time to move on.
To Dave and Becky, heroes in my view, who loved David in the most amazing, powerful and unconditional way I say these words -
Think of your child not as gone, but here, living; not as a flower that has withered, but as one that has transplanted, and touched by a Divine Hand, is blooming in richer colors and sweeter shades than those of earth.
And to David - in the words of one of his favorite musicians Enya in the song "On My Way Home" -
I have been given one moment from heaven as I am walking surrounded by night,
Stars high above me make a wish under the moonlight.
On my way home I remember only the good days.
On my way home I remember all of the best days.
I'm on my way home, I can remember every new day
I move in silence with each step taken, snow falling round me like angels in flight,
Far in the distance in my wish under moonlight.
David, we love you, we miss you - you will be in our hearts and minds forever and while we will shed many tears healing from your loss, we give you our solemn pledge that in your memory as you would desire we will once again be strong and we will once again smile.

Jonsey, My old pal. I'm reading these wonderful tributes to you and wishing I had known you as the man you obviously grew to be. We had many laughs, a few hair-raising rides, and built a bond that lasted throughout our college days. Above all else, I remember your generosity to a poor kid from Queens New York. You shared all that you had with me like a brother -- from our very first day together in the fall of 1984. May you rest in peace. YITB, Eric

Remember Me
To the living, I am gone.
To the sorrowful, I will never return.
To the angry, I was cheated.
But to the happy, I am at peace.
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore, gazing at a beautiful sea-remember me.
As you look in awe at a mighty forest and its grand majesty-remember me.
As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity-remember me.
Remember me in your heart, your thoughts your memories of the times we loved, the times we cried, the times we fought, the times we laughed.
For if you always think of me, I will never be gone.

You will be in my heart forever big brother, dear soul, amazing uncle, wise spirit. You guided me to these words and it is my promise to you to honor them as I go on now without you: .."If my parting left a void, then fill it with remembered joy... Be not burdened by deep sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow... Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with grief..Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wants me now..He set me free" - Anonymous I will always remember the joy and find the sunshine, I love you, your little sister
