I'm quite sure this is the Ruth Bedell I worked with at the Colonial Life insurance Co on Prospect St in East Orange around late 1957 and 1958.
I was 19 years old at the time and we both worked in the Debit Policy Accounting Department. I was the only male to work in a department made up of, what seemed to me then, older women. I have never forgotten Ruth because she impressed me with her wonderful sense of humor, good common sense, and her enthusiasm for living. We had many conversations during the one year that we worked together.
If I remember correctly she lived on Midland Ave, near Glen Ridge, and her husband was an FBI agent.
I transferred to another department in late '58 and soon thereafter left for Army service, never to return to Colonial Life, which had a very pleasant working environment in those days.
But I have never forgotten those 'older' women in our department, all strong with clear minds, but especially Ruth. I can still remember the sound of her voice and how she encouraged me to continue my education, which I eventually did.
While I'm sad to learn that she has passed on, I'm delighted to know that she got almost 99 years. Eternal peace to you Ruth.....it was great knowing you, even if it was for a relatively short time.
