Obituary of Kimberly Schaffran
Please share a memory of Kimberly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kimberly Marie Schaffran was born on June 26, 1963 in Passaic, New
Jersey. She lived in Passaic for most of her life. Kimberly was the
second daughter of Thomas Foxhall Schaffran. She graduated from St.
Mary's High School in Rutherford, New Jersey in 1981. Her interests
were in hair and skin care and nail manicuring. To that end, she
attended and graduated from Christine Valmy International School for
Esthetics in 1982 and Capri Institute of Hair Design in 1983.
Kimberly later joined the family businesses, Passaic Engraving and
Lectro Form, where she worked with her Dad. The companies were
founded by Kimberly's grant-great-grandfather, Thomas Foxhall of
Manchester, England. Upon her father's death in 2008, Kimberly became
the fifth generation owner of the companies. She was passionate
about her work and appreciative of and caring for the people that
worked for her.
There were lots of activities that Kimberly pursued with vigor and
passion. She loved deep sea fishing, fresh water fishing, fly
fishing, and hunting pheasant, all of which her Dad taught her. She
went on fishing trips to exotic places such as Costa Rica, the Baja in
Mexico, Vancouver Island, Canada and Winnepeg, Canada. Kimberly
shared her love of fishing and hunting with her beloved nephew,
Billy. He was the apple of her eye. Kimberly was affectionately
known to Billy as "Aunt Shim" because he could not pronounce "Kim" as
a small child.
Kimberly also pursued other interests. She skied and learned to ice
skate. The sun was important to Kimberly. She enjoyed spending
Sunday afternoons poolside in Vicky's backyard, playing with the
dogs. Kimberly even had a tanning bed in her home. She appreciated
wildlife and provided a constant supply of cracked corn to the deer
whom she considered her pets. Kimberly had a cat, China, whom she
loved with all her heart, and later adopted a black cat, Sam, who was
her baby. Growing up in a hunting house, dogs were always around and
she loved them deeply. They, too, were her babies. Kimberly was
also a member of Ducks Unlimited, a waterfowl preservation foundation.
Exercise and personal health was important to Kimberly. She began
running several years ago and joined Platinum Fitness for boot camp
classes. It became a new home for her and led to many friendships and
finding love with Jeffrey Grayson. And it was Jeffrey who introduced
Kimberly to the church. She found God through the church, which
prepared her for this unforeseen journey.
Kimberly was always prepared, meticulous and punctual. She was
empathetic and thoughtful of other person's needs. Kimberly gave in
life and in death. She did the ultimate act of selflessness by
checking off on her license that she wanted to be an organ and tissue
donor. Her memory will live with those whom she touched each day of
her beautiful life.
Kimberly was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Foxhall
Schaffran, and is survived by her siblings, Victoria Manning of
Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, Elizabeth Schaffran of Burlington, New
Jersey and Howie Wexler of Boxford, Mass.; her brother-in-law, William
J. Manning, Jr.; her nephew, William Foxhall Manning; devoted partner,
Jeffrey Grayson; cousins including Anne Margaret Rocco and Elizabeth
Dorsey and their children, and many devoted and faithful family and
friends. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the New
Jersey Sharing Network Foundation.
