James Martin Johnson

Global Engineer, Lifetime Rescue Worker, Devoted Family Man, 66

James “Jim” Johnson died on February 29 in the company of loved ones. Jim passed too young at the age of 66 years.

As an engineer for Merck, he played a pivotal role in their building and expansion both in the US and Japan of the past 30 years. Over the span of 40 years, Jim served as a volunteer EMT for the Montclair and Westfield Rescue Squads and an EMT for Merck.

The oldest of five children, he was born on March 20, 1957. He graduated Rutgers University and received his MBA from Seton Hall University. Jim also held a Professional Engineering license. Jim is survived by his mother Barbara Johnson, son Daniel Johnson and his wife Erin, and their three children and their grandmother Margaret Johnson. Also, his sister Janet and brothers, Peter, Andrew, Edward, and their families.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Cassian Roman Catholic church, 187 Bellevue Ave, Upper Montclair, NJ on March 5th at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Montclair Rescue Squad (montclairems.org) and the Westfield Rescue squad (westfieldems.org)
