Obituary of Michael Delio

Michael C. Delio, age 78, of West Caldwell, New Jersey passed away peacefully on May 25th, 2024 in Cedar Grove, New Jersey. He was born on October 23, 1945 in Montclair, New Jersey and was a lifelong resident of Montclair and West Caldwell.

Mike worked for the Cedar Grove Sanitation Department for 6 years. Prior to his retirement in 2014, he worked for 30 years in the maintenance department at William Paterson University.

Interested in sports at an early age, Michael was a member of the Montclair High School football team, graduating in 1965. He attended college in Texas. Mike loved watching and talking about sports. He enjoyed attending many local games, wearing a baseball cap and a big smile.

Family was very important to Mike. If anyone wanted to know what was happening with one of his cousins or their families, all you had to do was ask him. He is survived by his cousins Anthony Scillia, Michael Vincent Scillia, and Charles O’Hara, as well as many second cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Rose M. Delio.

Services for Michael are being prepared by Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home and will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in the family plot. Donations to honor Mike’s life can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or to Toni’s Kitchen in Montclair, New Jersey.
