Jean Wilson Moore, previously Jean Wilson Bennett, of Montclair died peacefully surrounded by family in the evening hours of March 30, 2023. She was 77.
Jean grew up in Basking Ridge. Jean actively worked as a realtor for many years and also worked at The Montclair Times newspaper and, more recently, had taught Latin for a number of school districts.
In her youth, Jean was an avid equestrian and always had a sincere love of horses and all animals. She had later spent a number of years volunteering and supporting PAWS (Pound Animal Welfare Society) to help abandoned animals find loving homes.
Jean was very proud of her Scottish heritage and greatly enjoyed attending regional Scottish festivals and highland games. She was involved in the planning and organization of the original Bonnie Brae Scottish Festival and Highland Games. She had also been very actively involved in volunteering with the Friends of Barnet U.S./UK student-exchange program.
Jean is pre-deceased by her parents Anne and Harvey Bennett. A loving mother, Jean is survived by her sons, Alexander Moore and Jonathan Moore and her daughters-in-law respectively, Tracy Moore and Emily Moore, her two loving grandsons, Alexander (A.J.) Moore II and Tyler Moore.
Jean will be laid to rest during a private entombment ceremony. In lieu of flowers, contributions to your local animal shelter would be appreciated.
