Obituary of Molly Maloney Monaghan

Please share a memory of Molly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Molly Monaghan, a 2012 graduate of Montclair High School, died suddenly on November 27.  She was 28 years old and lived in New York City.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday December 2nd from 12-3PM at Egan and Sons Pub, 118 Walnut Street Montclair.

Molly was creative, mischievous and blessed with a wicked wit and an unforgettable smile. She was deeply loved by her family and a remarkably large community of friends.

Born June 17, 1994, in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, Molly grew up in Montclair, New Jersey, where she attended Northeast Elementary School and Mt. Hebron Middle School. At Montclair High School, she made a notable contribution as a co-manager of the Montclair Mounties football team for two seasons. She continued her education at Penn State University, graduating in 2016 with a BA degree in Economics and Business. While attending Penn State, Molly taught English at the Mare de Deu de Nuria Primary School in Barcelona, Spain, in 2015.

In her professional career, Molly served as a Private Wealth Management Associate at Stifel Financial Corporation in New York City from 2016 through 2021. More recently, she was a manager on the Customer Success Team at New York-based PitchBook Data, a company that provides comprehensive global capital market data.
Always dedicated to helping those in need, Molly served as a board member at the Irish Community Network NYC, a resource group for Irish Americans; and was active as a foster caregiver with dog rescue groups in New York City.

Molly enjoyed living in New York City, but was equally at home on 67th Street in Brant Beach on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.  She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, Diet Coke lover, beach enthusiast and an unapologetic Bravo zealot. Molly enjoyed frequenting her favorite restaurants, especially for a meal with family or friends.

Molly is survived by her parents, Hilary Walsh and Kevin Monaghan; her sisters Annie and Cristina; brother Rory; and French bulldog Max.
In lieu of flowers, the Monaghan family requests that donations be made in Molly’s name at Pixie and Paws Rescue, a not-for-profit, animal rescue group dedicated to saving imperiled dogs and bringing them to New York to be fostered into loving homes.
