Obituary of Stephen Glasser

Stephen A. Glasser, 79, died August 25, 2022, at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, after a long struggle with congestive heart failure, surrounded by his family. A resident of Montclair, N.J., for decades, Steve co-founded the Legal Times newspaper and a series of other innovative legal publishing and education businesses with his wife, Lynn Glasser, his partner in business and life for 57 years. He was born on July 27, 1943, in Memphis, Tenn., to Esther and Melvin Glasser. In 1965, he married Lynn Schreiber and together they raised their four children: Susan Glasser of Washington; Laura Glasser of South Pasadena, Calif.; Jeffrey Glasser of Los Angeles; and Jennifer Glasser of Scarsdale, N.Y. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Colgate University and the University of Michigan Law School, Steve was chairman of Sandpiper Partners. He served 29 years on the Board of Trustees of Bloomfield College, among many community activities. In addition to his wife, Lynn Glasser, and his children, he is survived by seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Montclair Art Museum in Montclair, N.J. Memorial donations may be made in Steve’s name to the Trustees of Columbia University, care of the Division of Cardiology and designated to the team of Dr. Allan Schwartz.
