Jay-Louise Weldon Obituary Jay-Louise Weldon, age 77, died at the longtime Orlando/Weldon family vacation home at 420 Merion Place in Ocean City, NJ, on Wed. Sept. 8th, 2021. The shore with all its memories was one of her favorite places. She succumbed after a long struggle with breast cancer.
Born in Camden, NJ, she grew up in Collingswood, NJ above the family business, Weldon’s Hardware. She lived for over 40 years in Montclair, NJ and developed considerable affection for the town and its people. Always an exceptional student, she graduated from William and Mary College and earned a doctorate in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania. An expert in large database management, Dr. Weldon worked in academia, teaching at the school of business at New York University, before moving to industry. She worked at several smaller firms, including Dialog, Inc., SHI Systemhouse and Electronic Data Systems before moving to Hewlett Packard and retiring from there in 2007.
After retirement, Jay-Louise volunteered with AARP Tax-Aide and at the United Methodist Communities at Pine Ridge of Montclair. She was a dedicated regular at the exercise classes offered by Total Workout and developed many warm and lasting friendships with others in those classes. Among her favorite retirement activities were the many road trips she and husband Mike took all over the US and southern Canada, visiting family and friends along the way.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Wynne, 2 sons and their spouses, Brian Wynne and Virginia Jeffries, David Wynne and Danny Krueger, and her brother Edward Weldon III and wife Betty Weldon (Alender).
Jay-Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Marie Weldon (Orlando).
Mike and the boys have scheduled a memorial gathering for family and friends from 1 to 4PM on Saturday, Oct 16 at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., Montclair NJ 07042. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the United Methodist Communities at Pine Ridge of Montclair, c/o 3211 Rt. 33, Neptune NJ 07753 (online at www.umcommunities.org) or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 W. 44th St., suite 609, NY NY 10036 or www.bcrf.org
