Jim was born and raised in Montclair and graduated from Montclair High School in 1988. He was a proud co-owner of Tierney’s Tavern and spent his days either cooking the best burger in Montclair or serving drinks.

Jim loved playing the guitar, listening to music, the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and the Brooklyn Nets, but was most proud of his three children.

Jim was predeceased by his father, Edward Joseph Tierney, and his mother, Gertrude Brennan Tierney. He is survived by his children, Dylan, Sandy, and Ryan; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Bill Tierney (Jacqueline), Mary Ellen Onofrio (David), Cathy Tierney, Edward Robert Tierney, John Tierney, and Michael Tierney; and many niecesnephews, and cousins.

Arrangements will be held on Saturday, August 7th at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 30 North Fullerton Ave, Montclair NJ. There will be a wake 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and Mass at 12:30 pm. There will be a private family burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family wants to keep Jim’s love of music alive by giving the gift of music to the next generation and asks that you consider making a donation in his name to Jazz House Kids – https://jazzhousekids.org
