Obituary of Mark Pskowski
MARK PSKOWSKI December 11, 1955 – July 28, 2021
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full, may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men
Mark Pskowski, longtime resident of Neptune, NJ, beloved son, dear brother, treasured and joyous uncle to his adoring nieces and nephews, loyal and caring friend to many, died on July 28 from injuries sustained in a catastrophic automobile crash in Carlstadt on June 8.
Mark is survived by his cherished mother Catherine M. Pskowski, a gaggle of six brothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews who adored his gifts of laughter, love and cookies. Mark leaves dear and trusting friends, among them Theresa and Watson, Chris and Val, Jamie, Patty, Sheila and Mike, the Kelly’s, and Monsignor John B. Wehrlen. He was predeceased by his father, Edward W. Pskowski, grandparents Ellen and Zigmund Pskowski and Fredericka and James McGrory, and brother-in-law Peter Hales.
Born in Jersey City in 1955, Mark was raised in Upper Montclair and a resident of Los Angeles and Manhattan until settling at the Jersey Shore over 17 years ago. The life he built at the Shore was centered on friends whom he loved deeply, a breathtaking view of the Shark River, gardening, and visits (bearing gifts!) to those he loved. A man of meaningful and abiding habits, Mark loved his routines and found pleasure in hard work. His commitment to perseverance is our inspiration and he will remain in our hearts forever.
Mark’s family is deeply grateful to the staff of Hackensack University Medical Center, especially the nurses of SICU and 3N, all of whom worked tirelessly with care and patience and dedication for nearly two months: you will always be heroes.
Mark loved the Shore and said he would never leave. In September, family and friends will gather there to honor him and celebrate his life.
Going home, going home
By the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul
