Obituary of Richard Lloyd Blevins

Richard (Fischer) Lloyd Blevins, 75, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Hackensack UMC.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Jacqueline Rowan Blevins, of Woodland Park, NJ; son Richard F. Blevins (Amanda Myers) of Minneapolis, MN; daughter Lynnette (Douglas) Hettrick of Durham, CT; Jacki’s sons Bob (Cyndee) Rowan of Montclair, NJ and Tom (Mary) Rowan of Tampa, FL; sister Leslie (Melford) Henschel of Apple Valley, MN; nieces Tamara Henschel and Amy Presler; nephews Michael and Daniel Bullard; and grandchildren Amelia and Davin Hettrick. He was predeceased by his parents Richard Fischer Jr. and Dorothy Gottschalk Atkinson, and his sister Claudia Bullard.

Richard was born in Trenton, NJ, and was raised in Minneapolis, MN. He joined the Navy after graduating high school in 1961. He spent part of his service in Cuba, then was honorably discharged in 1964. Richard was a longtime member of West Paterson American Legion #238. He completed his lifetime goal of traveling to all 50 states in the U.S.

Visitation will be held at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street, Montclair, NJ 07042, on Thursday, September 13, from 4-8pm. Interment will be at BG Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, North Hanover Township, NJ
