Obituary of Ronald G. Sonzogni

Ronald G. Sonzogni, MD of Upper Montclair passed away peacefully in his home on December 4, 2017. He was 88.

Known to many as “Doc”, Ronald was a 50+ year resident of Upper Montclair.  Born on November 13, 1929 he was a 1947 graduate of Regis High School and a 1955 graduate of Georgetown Medical School.  He served his country as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy Reserves. After the Navy, Ronald opened a private practice and then ultimately worked for over 30 years as the Assistant Corporate Medical Director for Hoffman La Roche Pharmaceuticals in Nutley before retiring in 1990.

Ronald is survived by his son, James and daughter- in-law, Wendy, of Clifton, N.J., and their children, Samantha and James Jr., and his daughter, Peggy Gottschau and her husband, Steven, of Pennsylvania, and their children, Michael and Margaret Rose.  He also leaves a large family of relatives, including his brothers John, Charles and Norbert all of Bergen county and their children.

Ronald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy Marie (Biangardi) Sonzogni.  He is also preceded in death by his youngest brother, Robert.

Visitation will be held at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park St., Montclair, N.J., Thursday, December 7 from 4pm to 7 p.m. Cremation will be private with interment in the family plot at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Bergen County. A Memorial Mass will be held at St Cassian Church, Upper Montclair, at a future date.
