Obituary of Carolyn Hollern Blondel

Blondel-Carolyn H. passed away peacefully at her home in Verona, NJ on October 7 at the age of 96. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Hopwood of Palo Alto and her son, John Blondel of New York, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John deC. Blondel and her daughter, Holly Parent.
Born in Minneapolis on February 27, 1921, she was raised in St. Cloud and Wayzata, MN, graduated from Rosemary Hall School in Old Greenwich in 1939 and the French School in New York in 1941. She worked for the U.S. Government in World War II studying correspondence in French for code and was honored for her success. She married John Blondel in 1946 living in Montclair and neighboring Verona for the rest of her life. In addition to raising her family, her passions were reading, politics, St. Luke's and St. James Episcopal churches and breeding and showing dogs. She possessed a keen mind, humor and independence which she maintained through all of her days.
