Obituary of Marianna West

West, Marianna who lived in Montclair for 54 years, passed away on Sunday August 29, 2010. She was 83. Mrs. West earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio Wesleyan and master's degree from Emory, both in English. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, stamp and book collecting, playing the organ, and a daily exercise program, She was a member of the K-9 Obedience Training Club of Essex County, the College Women's Club of Montclair, and volunteered at Mountainside Hospital for 32 Years. In her early years she was a ballerina, editor for 17 Magazine, and an assistant publicity director for Thomas Y. Crowell Company. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer, her son Jeffrey, her brother John and her dog Max, who meant the world to her. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing at the Hugh M. Moriarty Funeral Home, 76 Park Street Montclair, NJ on Wednesday, September 1, from 2-4 and 7-9. She will be interred with her parents in Cambridge, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the charity of one's choice.
