Lurleen Hyacinth Glasgow
Foster Child Done Good
02/21/1942-04/11/2026
Born in Saint Thomas, Jamaica Lurleen was part of the Windrush generation that went to Great Britain after World War II. She arrived in Great Britain at a young age to be with her mother gave birth to her at a young age. Unfortunately, they had an estranged relationship which cause her to live in foster homes in London, England. Frustrated with her life, she decided to apply to nursing school which fortunately she was accepted. During that time after she graduated, she met another registered nurse, my Auntie Jean who would introduce her to her brother (future husband), another Guyanese, Maurice Glasgow. They gave birth to two kids, Malcolm, named after Malcolm X and Michelle, named after a Beatles song. Later on, they would move to the USA, where she worked in Kings County Hospital and Manhattan Eye and Ear. After moving to NJ from NYC, she worked for UMDNJ in Newark and Essex County Hospital in Cedar Grove, NJ. Before meeting her husband, she dated Carl Douglas, the man famous for the Kung Fu Fighting song. Lurleen Glasgow was also a Type 1 diabetic who lived to the age of 84.
I love you mom.
