Anne Hallowell Mockridge passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026.
Born on January 27, 1940, in Oregon, Anne grew up in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. She married The Rev. Oscar A. Mockridge III in 1963, and together they shared 53 years of marriage until his passing in 2017. In the early 1970s, the couple began their
long residence in Montclair, New Jersey.
Anne earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Rutgers University. She devoted several decades to her career as a clinical social worker, with a special focus on geriatrics.
She had a deep love of history and was particularly passionate about the Montclair History Center (formerly the Montclair Historical Society), where she served as President of the Board.
Anne is survived by her children: son Oscar A. Mockridge IV and his wife Caroline Mockridge, and daughter Kendall M. Annable and her husband Stephen Annable. Her five grandsons—Henry, Brewster, and Chase Mockridge, and Spencer and Drew Annable—were a constant
source of pride and joy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montclair History Center.
A funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Newark, NJ.
