Virginia L. "Ginny" Byrne, (nee Condron) 73, a 38-year resident of Upper Montclair passed away on February 12, 2017 at Gates Manor Nursing Home in Montclair. Born in Elizabeth in St. Genevieve's Parish on February 11, 1944, Ginny attended Bender Memorial Academy, Benedictine Academy, and then St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana. In her school years, she was employed by Morey La Rue Laundry but after graduating college became a reporter for the Montclair Times and later an Assistant Editor for the paper. She was proud to have covered the landing on the moon of Montclair native Buzz Aldrin, Aldrin's home-coming parade, and the work of the then-Township Commission, in particular Commissioner Richard Bonsal whose dignity, kindness, and community service she would often recall. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Alice Downey Condron, as well as her siblings, Ann Joan Imbriaco, Jerry, and Tommy. She was the wife of Eugene J. Byrne. Esq. and mother of Michael and Sheila. She was also the sister-in-law of Joseph Imbriaco and aunt of Beth (Ron) Hjelm, Andrea (Chris) O'Brien, Shelly (Mike) Scheuring, and Monica Karanick; as well as the aunt of Tim (Denise) Condron, Sharon, and Cathy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Benedictine Academy, 840 North Broad Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07208.
